The Mega Green Tea diet is a weight loss plan that consists of a green tea supplement, a low calorie diet and an exercise routine. The million dollars question is: how good is the plan?

The Mega Green Tea diet plan is a weight loss program developed by CCA Industries to help you lose weight. Here is their promise:

“Over a period of time, you can lose up to 20 pounds if you follow our enclosed diet plan to eat less and exercise properly (depending on your everyday activities).”

Now, don't you think there is a lot of common sense in this statement? Twenty pounds are not a lot of weight to lose if you "eat less and exercise properly". So, what is so unique and effective about their weight loss program?

Green Tea Extract Pills

The Mega Green Tea extract pills contain a combination of green tea, Chromium, Guarana, Siberian Ginseng and Garcinia Cambogia.

  • Green tea helps you lose weight by increasing metabolism and fat burning.

  • Guarana and Siberian Ginseng acts as energy booster.

  • Chromium and Garcinia Cambogia eliminates food cravings.

For an added weight loss effect, the company recommends adding Mega-G Grapefruit Formula to the program.

Mega-G includes grapefruit extract, Glucomannan and Gymnema Sylvestre. The supplement is believed to:

  • Curb appetite

  • Boost metabolism

  • Reduce sugar absorption

  • Suppress the taste of sweetness - so that dessert does not taste as good!

The Mega Green Tea extract is often proclaimed as the "hot product" by many raving fans. Read my supplement review to find out why this tea supplement is not exactly what they claim.

Diet Plan

The Mega green tea diet is basically a low-carb (low carbohydrate), high protein diet similar to the South Beach Diet or the Atkin’s diet.

These diets work well when you stick to the program. However, once eating habits return to normal, any weight loss achieved is soon lost because the program does not teach long-term effective eating habits or lifestyle changes.

There are two problems:

  • One size doesn't fit all. Put it simply, high-protein diet is just not for everyone. After a couple of months, many will give up in disgust!

  • Over the long run, it can be unhealthy. Scientists have concerns over high protein diet for a variety of reasons: kidney problems, osteoporosis and dehydration.

Moreover, there are side effects that you have to be aware of that are not mentioned in the Mega green tea diet plan.

Imagine: you have never experienced high protein diet. As a beginner, you have no coping mechanisms to deal with the cravings, bouts of weakness and erratic mood.

Having said that, the diet pills contain Chromium and Garcinia Cambogia that would have helped prevent some of the cravings and calm the moodiness of a low-carb diet..

Exercise Plan

The exercise program is a basic plan of stretching and calisthenics. It is easy to follow and does not require a lot of time or any special equipment, except a chin up bar. However, there is no guidance on how to make the exercises more difficult as a person’s fitness level improves.

If you have a history of lower back pain or injuries, be warned! There is little mention of what to do if an exercise hurts or proves uncomfortable.


The Mega green tea diet plan is an integrated, "slow and steady" approach that many people will find easy to follow. Compare to their competitors, I think CCA has done a good job putting it together.

However, I have my reservations:

  • The green tea extract pills have not been standardised - which means you don't know for sure how much EGCG it contains.

  • They are not herbicide and fluoride free.

  • The high protein diet is not a viable long-term solution for many people.

If you are healthy, only have a small amount of weight to lose, and love Mega-T to bits, by all means go ahead!

Note: please don't consume the supplement for longer than 3 months, as low quality tea extract supplements have been found to cause severe side effects in individuals.

Green Tea Supplements Side Effects

For the rest of us, a cup of loose green tea while learning how to eat and exercise properly is probably the priority until a better product comes along.

Long-term weight loss requires time, knowledge and patience – don't expect to find any of those things in the little capsule you take twice a day.
