Black Tea Irritate My Heart and Ears...

by Sandra

Black teas seems to irritate my heart and ears. Is this because I am brewing the teas 20 to 30 minutes long and sometimes longer? Is this good or bad for you?

Answer:

Sandra, I am not a black tea drink so I can't say for sure. But I don't think the steeping time has anything to do with it.

Black tea needs to be brewed at boiling water - how hot can you keep the water at? If you steep your tea that long, it is unlikely your water will be kept hot enough to make a difference.

In any case, I don't believe it is the steeping time. Other people may have different opinion.

You use the word "irritate", and to me it sounds like it may be the caffeine in black tea that causes it. Drinking black tea does make me more restless, that's why I tend to avoid it. It may have the same effects on the heart.
